MCL-Net V4 Use Cases
Overview
MCL-Net V4 is a communications tool that can be used within basic and/or complex MCL project implementation.
Below are same specific MCL-Net V4 use cases:
Use Case A - MCL-Net V4 within a Local Network
Customer Case
The customer has one store and wants to perform an inventory with his mobile devices and have them communicate the resulting data to a local database.
MCL Implementation Suggestion
•MCL-Net V4 is installed into the store's existing PC or server.
•MCL-Net V4 is specifically configured to connect to the customer's local database.
•Each device has an MCL "Inventory" application installed.
Use Case B - MCL-Net V4 Use within Multiple Sites
Customer Case
The customer has several warehouses spread across the country, each one with its own local network.
The devices in all warehouses need to run the same mobile application but, at the same time, connect to different databases (each warehouse has a server and database).
MCL Implementation Suggestions
•Perpetual License Implementation
•Each warehouse has an MCL-Net V4 installed into its own server.
•Each MCL-Net V4 is specifically configured to connect to the warehouse's local database.
•Each device has the same MCL application installed (MCL-Loader V4 can be used to stage, license and install the MCL application into the devices).
•A host definition file with specific settings (ex: MCL-Net V4 server's IP/Port) is created and installed in the devices to ensure that each device only communicates with the intended MCL-Net V4 server. (To externalize the host definition, the MCL application reads the host definition file at start up and configures the host - this process needs to be developed with MCL-Designer V4.)
•Subscription Implementation
•There is an MCL-Mobility Platform account with several sites (each site represents a warehouse).
•Each warehouse has an MCL-Net V4 installed into its own server.
•MCL-Net V4 is specifically configured to connect to the warehouse's local database.
•Each device has the same MCL application installed (MCL-Mobility Platform is used to deploy the MCL components and the MCL application).
•The host definition with specific settings (ex: MCL-Net V4 server's IP/Port) is configured in the MCL-Mobility Platform for each site (warehouse). This information is automatically sent to the devices associated to each site and activated at startup, without the need for any application development/edition.
Use Case C - Communication between 1 MCL-Net V4 in charge of Multiple Sites and a Data Center (Remote Database)
Customer Case
The customer has several depots spread across the country, all of them within the same network. Each depot includes its own mobile devices. The customer wants all mobile devices to communicate with his Data Center - a cloud located remote database - regardless of the depot they are associated to.
MCL Implementation Suggestion
•MCL-Net V4 is installed into the cloud based Data Center server.
•MCL-Net V4 is specifically configured to connect to the customer's cloud located database server.
•Each mobile device has the same MCL application installed
