Overview

 

MCL-Loader V4 is the tool that enables you to install the compatible MCL software (MCL-Client, MCL-Agent and MCL Application (pdk files)) and activate MCL-Client license(s) in your device(s). It also establishes regular contact with a management tool (MCL-License Manager) that handles those licenses (once they are registered in your MCL-License Manager account).

 

Below are some basic concepts related to MCL-Loader V4:

 

Device

Is the physical device, regardless of manufacturer, model or operating system, where MCL applications run.

 

MCL-Client

Is the runtime engine (installed in a device) responsible for the execution of an MCL application. It is associated to an MCL-Client (perpetual) license.

There are 3 fundamental steps you must execute to be able to use this MCL product and corresponding license:

 

1. Acquire an MCL-Client (perpetual) license and register it in your MCL-License Manager account. See How to Register a License.

 

2. Install a compatible MCL-Client version in each device with the use of MCL-Loader V4. See How to Install MCL Software into a Device.

 

3. Activate the MCL-Client (perpetual) license (by attributing a license unit to each device) with the use of MCL-Loader V4. See How to Activate a Product License in a Device.

 

MCL-Client License (License Unit)

Once MCL-Client is installed in a device, it is necessary to activate the product's license. An MCL-Client license can consist of one or more license units to be used in one or more devices (ex: an MCL-Client license including 5 license units can be distributed per 5 devices). Once a license unit is attributed to a device's SSN, it becomes tied to that physical device.

 

MCL-License Manager

Is a cloud-based platform that allows you to manage your MCL product license(s)/license unit(s).

This platform requires the creation of an account. This allows you to register your MCL license, view the device/PC/server that is associated to a specific license unit, how many units are still free, etc..

Each time an MCL license is acquired, you will receive an email with license details and a direct link to MCL-License Manager so you can register that license in your account.

 

Device Info

Information provided by MCL-Loader V4 regarding a connected device (device model, installed MCL product, version, device's SSN, etc.).

 

MCL-Agent

Is a software (installed in a device) responsible for the communication with MCL-Mobility Platform. It is associated to a subscription (license type that includes specific products/services, requires periodical renewal and is related to the MCL-Mobility Platform). MCL-Loader V4 allows you to install this software (see How to Install MCL Software into a Device) but you CANNOT activate the corresponding subscription.
