Overview

Deployments are responsible for delivering configurations to devices within a device group. These tasks can be planned in the "Deployments" sub-module (see Deployments), in the "Configurations" sub-module (see Assigning a Configuration to a Device Group) but, also, in the "Device Groups" sub-module. More specifically, in the "Device Groups" page.

This method can be used to plan a deployment for one or more device groups as long as the selected device groups share the same device type/OS.

Step-by-step

1. In the Site Dashboard's "Control Panel", click Devices Button and, in the resulting row below, select Device Groups Sub Module Button to open the "Device Groups" page.

Device Groups Page Grid View

2. Check the corresponding Check box of the device group you want to assign a deployment to.

3. Click Change Config Header Button. This opens a "New Deployment Plan" page.

4. Fill in the options available (the fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory):

Note

The configuration and the device group must be compatible. In this context (creating a deployment for the selected device group), the "Apply to Device group" option is already filled in. Therefore, only configurations compatible with that device group will be available in the "Configuration to deploy" option.

Plan Name *

Enter a name for the deployment (minimum of 4 characters).

Apply to Device Group

This field displays the previously selected device group. It is possible to change it. To do so click the corresponding lupa button. See Detail of Select a Device Group window below.

If you have already selected a configuration, you will only be able to replace the previously selected device group with another that is compatible with that configuration.

Configuration to Deploy *

Click the corresponding lupa button to open a "Select a Configuration" window and select the configuration to be deployed (the list only displays compatible configurations for the previously selected device group). See Detail of a Select a Configuration window.

Version

The selected configuration's version. This field is NOT editable, it is automatically filled in once a configuration is selected.

Deployment Mode*

Select a mode of deployment from the drop-down list. There are two available:

Incremental: Only components present in the deployed configuration, that are not present on the device, will be implemented.

Full Install: Deletes all the applications/firmwares and forces the installation of the components present in the deployed configuration.

Planning Date*

Check the most appropriate scheduling for the deployment:

As soon as possible: Check this option so that the deployment starts as soon as the device contacts the account and the deployment criteria are met.

Date: Check this option and enter the intended date and time. See Scheduling a Deployment.

5. Click Confirm button to complete the operation.

If an error message appears, check Possible Error Message(s) to know how to proceed.
